Twin gunshots in Rotterdam have resulted in the deaths of three people, according to Dutch police

The individual responsible for at least three deaths as a result of twin shootings in the city of Rotterdam has been apprehended by the Dutch police.

On Thursday, the perpetrator, a male aged 32, allegedly opened fire at a residence before setting it on fire and then storming the Erasmus Medical Center in the city.

He attended Erasmus University, which is connected to the medical center in some way. He was a student there.

In the initial incident, two people were killed: a mother and her daughter, both aged 14 and 39. A male lecturer, 43 years old, was found dead in the hospital after being shot.

A video has surfaced that shows a man wearing camouflaged clothing being led out of the medical building while he is restrained in handcuffs. It was not immediately clear what the motivations for the attack were.

According to reports from Dutch media, the suspect has been given the name Fouad L.

A security guard who claims he was the first person to arrive on the scene described the day as "shocking" to the BBC.

"It was terrible, terrible," he replied, appearing obviously scared and unwilling to provide his name. "It was terrible," he repeated.

According to him, the shooter did not enter the medical center through the primary entrance.

In a statement that he made on social media, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, said, "My thoughts go out to the victims of the violence, their loved ones, and to all of the people who have been in great fear."

At a news briefing held following the shooting on Thursday, Rotterdam police officers stated that they were familiar with the suspect, who has not been officially identified at this time. Two years ago, he was found guilty of harsh treatment of animals.

According to the authorities, there was no evidence that a second shooter was involved.

As the shooting began at the medical center, staff members could be seen fleeing the building with patients, some of whom were on stretchers.

Two different hospital windows each had a sign affixed to them that stated "Room 32. We are trapped inside here!

A student from Israel named Barak, who is 27 years old, told the BBC that when the shooting started, he was in the middle of a job interview. It was terrifying when he got out since there were so many messages and sirens.

He continued by saying, "We can't believe it was a student like us," and we agree with him.

According to a statement made by another student on the website of RTL Nieuws, "First there was a shooting on the fourth floor. There may have been up to five rounds fired. Following then, a Molotov cocktail was hurled into the education center.

A number of highly trained police troops, including snipers, descended upon the hospital, and helicopters were spotted hovering above the structure of the facility.

Before he was taken into custody, the police described the man with black hair and towering stature as having been dressed in battle gear and riding a motorcycle while carrying a bag, headphones, and a weapon.
